The IMechE PolyU Student Chapter committee members raise this proposal. The information of the content below is mainly based on the discussions of our committee.

Site Visit 1
Location: Haeco
Date: August 2006
Duration: about 3hours
Number of participants expected: 30

One of our streams in the degree course is related to aircraft industry; therefore we plan to visit HAECO (Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company Limited) which is the company in Hong Kong which the main business is the maintenance of aircrafts. In the visit, the student can know more about aircraft maintenance and broaden our horizon.

Location: MTR Tsuen Wan Depot
Date: Jan 2007
Duration: about 3hours
Number of participants expected: 20

The purpose of this visit is to widen students’ scope of knowledge, especially those related to transportation. This visit can also help our future study, as transportation is one of the study streams.

Promotion
August:
3 presenters from IMechE will be invited to give a brief introduction on IMechE and sharing which lasts for 30-45 minutes to our mechanical engineering students.
10 T-shirts and engineering data books will be given out as souvenirs.

September:
We will promote IMechE in campus and receive the application form from our students.
Sponsor:
For IMechE promotion and collect new members during the Mechanical Engineering orientation camp, we will give a sponsorship of $500 to Department of Mechanical Engineering Students' Society for their exhibition’s fee.

Inauguration Ceremony

The Inauguration Ceremony is needed to raise attention of our chapter to the public

Inter-chapter Seminar

This function is needed to discuss with other student chapters (UST, HKU)

Social gathering

Several social gatherings will be held. Member of IMechE will have a chance to meet with the Young Member Section so that students can build up their relationship network
